Holiday Themed Guild Halls?
I was wondering whether Anet should give the Guild Halls a small holiday look. Whether is a NPC or decorations, it would be nice for guild holiday parties.
It could also be a type of thing you buy. I would pay (or collect money from the guild) 10k for a month of decorations.

Very nice idea, a variety of themes including holiday ones would be a great add on for halls.

We just moved to the Frozen isle. It's Christmas Themed by default.
Holiday theming for Guild Halls is a nice idea.

I don't like it. Every guild has people of all different religions, and it would probably upset guildmates if they only focused on one holiday, say Christmas, when there may be muslim members. Know what I mean?

/signed. would be a good money sink, and imo, if you have members of different faith, you can use that to your discretion. I do not see why some would be offended at seeing a decorated guild hall, but this is not the thread for that.

I've a got a special place in my heart for Wintersday and the Dragon Festival. I'd love a holiday-themed hall.
But wait, now that I think about it, new halls might be a bit much. How about changing every hall to a holiday theme when it's around that time of year?

It would take about the same amount of effort to retexture existing halls as it would to create new ones.

Since anyone can change Themes without losing the NPCs, why not to add a 'free theme change' in Holidays, so people can change to the current Holiday theme.
1. Purchase the Canthan ambassador services.
2. Talk to him, and choose "Event isle"
For example:
*Wintersday: Yule Isle (remake of Frozen Isle).
*Halloween: Horror Isle (remake of Isle of the Dead).
*Dragon Festival: Dragon isle (remake of Isle of Meditation)
Once the event ends, the hall is reverted to the 'original' copy.
For example, you had Nomad Isle, change to yule isle, when the event ends, you get the Frozen isle.
Why? Because that way they do not need to save the last hall you had.
After the event and the revert of the hall, another 'free change' would be given to that hall.
Once used, go back to the sigils.
Why to do that? Because there are many themes, and changing them all would be a pain.
That would be MUCH easier for the Developers.

I don't see them boycotting in Kamadan and Lion's Arch.

If they do this, I'd like the addition of your cape being hung in the hall on standards near the NPC's or on walls, depicting really who's hall it is. Perhaps a giant carpet of your flag on the floor of the hall? I'd really like the halls to be more decorative towards the guild and not all look the same. At least show our cape hanging off in multiple spots in the hall, sort of like how they show in Guild versus Guild matches, do the same thing minus the red or blue templates.
"Guild Name [tag]" appearing when you enter the hall doesn't really cut it for me.

I like it...Sometimes on holidays after the late night when event ends I go to the GH and enjoy some times with my guildies, and having some holiday spirit @ my GH would be so awesome.

Since team PvE play is kind of getting more and more rare it would be a nice idea to promote this play.
I would suggest that if you team up with at least 4 other players you could gain 'holiday points' for your guild. Your guild can then use those points to get decoration for its guild hall.

Well. I must remember that pretending to decorate all guilds would decrease the chances of this hapening.
It's much better to let placyers decide if they want decorations, by changing directly to the 'decorated hall' of the season.

Wintersday may remember Christmas, but is actually based in Yule.
(Yule cap, Yuletide Tonic, etc)
Those traditions about candy canes, sweets, gifts, decoratd trees, etc... are not original from Christmas. Actually, it is believed that Jesus of Natharet borth the 6th or 7th of January.
Why Christians celebrate Xmas on 25th? Many think that to upstage the original winter equinox party, in some places called 'yule'. That takes place around 21..23th december.
On top of that, in Guild Wars, yule or wintersday is the party about Dwayna and Grenth, and most ingame dialogs say so.

Actually, some people think that Jesus (if he was a historical figure) was born in the Spring. The reason Christmas is when it is is to fit in with the pagen end of the year celebration held by the Romans. The original roman calender had a few "extra" days tacked onto the end (each month was the same number of days) to maintain the seasons properly. Thus, there was just this big party at the end of the year when they placed this extra week.

I would love to be able to do a themed guild hall for Anet holidays. I have never seen a Christmas or Religious theme on Guild Wars; I have seen Wintersday which is decidedly pagan, Halloween likewise, and Canthan New Year.
While having the option of a free change would be nice (because all changes should be entirely voluntary) I would be happy to buy a sigil to do it. Over Halloween some of the guilds in our alliance changed their capes to more spooky versions. I didn't want to do this as I have a heraldic respect for capes; I don't regard them as cool designer items. But decorating a guild hall is entirely another matter.
I don't see that programming it would be a big deal. They can just take mini versions of Lion's Arch, Kamadan or any of the other areas where the decorations go up, and just add them to the guild hall options permanently, for people to take up as and when they wish.
GW have little new or exciting to offer us and GW2 is more than a year away.
New halls for Wintersday 2009 would be a very welcome sop.

Id pay for another sigil to do this for my guildies during events. Might also drive the prices of the sigils back up a bit again. Nice money sink.
